Hello World!

I love this story that Brian shared with me so I have to pass it on. He had taken Quimby to our park a few weeks ago when he was off of work. He was playing Frisbee with Quimby when he noticed a little bus driving by really slowly. He saw that it was from a local retirement center. He kept throwing the frisbe so that Quimby could show off. This actually  happens a lot when we are out exercising Quimby, people drive by slowly or stop to watch him materfully catching his favorite toy. He said the Bus came around again, slowly. This time Brian noticed a Greyhound in the window watching! Then he remembered that the local retirement center has two live in greyhounds. I love love love this story - the thought of all the people out for a trip with their dog, slowing down so that he could watch Quimby running and catching his frisbee!

Yuck & Yack

While out on our morning walk, Quimby and I took a turn to walk past "Kitty Patch". KP is this beautiful "wild on purpose" yard of a house in our hood. There are always at least three cats lounging in the yard or driveway. Recently KP sold and as of this week - all the kitties have moved to their new patch of grass. Of course Quimby doesn't get this, so he still excitedly walks by looking for them. He usually starts looking for them way before we get around the corner and actually see the yard. One day he stuck his head in a shrub hiding from them as we rounded the corner. Just his head. We couldn't even see KP from where we were. Silly dog. Today as we walked by he was busy sniffing where precious kitties used to rest their mysterious selves and he found a gift. A moving gift I will call it. Brian and I actually saw it yesterday but we couldn't figure out what in the world it was. By today any thoughts of the mysterious object or that it might still be there were gone from my head. At the same time Quimby found it I remembered. Quimby has gotten very good about dropping foreign objects when asked, not today. It took some work to get him to drop his treasured find. Even after he let it fall to the ground I was confused about it's origin. A snake? A...snake... skin? A FISH. The smell finally hit me. The kitties had left behind some large piece of fish skin. It was slimy. Shiny slimy and oh, so smelly. At some point today I hope to forget, just as I did yesterday - so that Quimby wont seem so contaminated. And we can snuggle again. Fishy lips forgotten.

Great Distraction

This past weekend we had puppy company. Quimby's whippet friend Izzy spent some time with us. I love this set of photos. They start out on their own beds, pass out, then finally try to squeeze into the same sunny spot.

Not Enough Quimby

I noticed that this blog is really lacking in Quimby posts. He loves a good spot of grass, even if it means nowhere to lay his head, but on the bricks. Doesn't look like he minds it.
