We were sad to get to the Dog Park and see that one of the best trees had been cut down. In the summer it was the coolest spot to be, on a bit of a hill, breezes and all. It's always weird to have a part of our three dimensional world, that we have come to assume will always be in the same spot - vanish. Here we are at the park, same time, same place...but the shady tree hasn't shown up. A stump has replaced it.
I have stood in front of this tree hundreds of times, and finally last week, I saw the wonderful music box pattern on it. I have begged Brian to find a way to make a little music box with this tree's song so that I can hear it, but I'm not making much headway. Too bad.
About a week or so before Felt Club, in the middle of the chaos that was our lives, we had several leaks happen in our bathroom. It started with me noticing something was happening with the bathroom floor, it always seemed wet, and there were white water stains traveling along the tiles. I had never noticed them during any mopping event while living here. I couldn't decided if it was just water from the shower traveling along the grout. Brian was convinced it was water bouncing off of his head in the shower - he recently shaved his hair off. I kept noticing the wet floor, but having a hard time getting Brian interested, until one morning when I noticed that I could push down on a floor tile and water would seep up through the cracks in the grout and edges of the tiles. That got his attention. There were many tiles like this, so we put in a call to our landlords. They came over and we discovered that the hot water tank was leaking. The next morning I took a shower and stepped out into a pond of water. I freaked out a bit, thinking the hot water tank was getting ready to floor our apartment. I mopped up the water, flushed the toilet and it promptly flooded again. We had a leaky toilet too. Its interesting how when something like this happens, all the warning signs become clear. I had been noticing a dirty toilet smell in the bathroom, even after cleaning it. This suddenly made sense... since the toilet had been leaking up through our floor. The plumber came and replaced our hot water tank and fixed a seal around the toilet. Quimby loves him and had to be as close as possible. I had to set up some boundaries for the poor plumber so he could get his work done. The new hot water heater is wonderful. Our water instantly felt different, smoother, not full of lime and dirt. We have had black specks in our water and our dishes were getting ruined in our dishwasher - coated with white film. I've tried so many different detergents and nothing has worked. Both of those problems seem to be solved now! Such a relief. Now if only we could get our stove top burners fixed and our heater to come on....
Weeks ago our friends The Masons invited us over to Laurie's mom's birthday event. Her mom has never been in a Jumping Castle and so they thought it would be way cool to get one for her birthday. The Bouncer was set up all day and we headed over for some fun after dinner. We were way too full to be bouncing, but it was getting late, and we didn't want to miss our chance. It was quite a circus. In the middle of all the adults we had three dogs in and out of the bouncer too. We all imagined how cool it would be to sleep in the castle, but at the end of the night the plug was pulled and we all went our separate ways to slumber on land.

This game works everytime. We were eating dinner with some friends a few weekends ago. Lily fell and hurt her head while playing. Brian did his best to make everything better. You may notice Brian has a bandage on his hand. He had an accident at work a couple weeks ago - slipped and stabbed a chisel shaped exacto blade into his thumb meat. It went in about 3/4" and he had to get 5 stitches. This all happened at the tail end of a job right before he was out of work and looking forward to bike riding, video games and computer work time. He had his stitches out today already. We found a video game we can play together that doesn't require more than two fingers - more on that later - can work on his computer again but will have to wait for the biking.
