This Saturday I participated in a bake sale. I was so excited to have time to do it - and it was for a good cause! Move On organized a country wide bake sale this weekend and all proceeds were donated to help get Obama into the White house. I baked up seven dozen gingerbread chocolate chip cookies. Brian was in charge of making my labels. He came up with the name "Obama Snaps" and after an hour of cursing gave up getting the all of the stickers to print out with all ingredients printed on each label. For some reason chocolate was printing out as "hocolate" and it was really making him crazy. They looked great though. Anyway, I volunteered to help out with the sale for an hour on Saturday. I was positioned to wrangle people over to our table - not the best job for me. I just don't like to get in other peoples space. Luckily there was another great lady there that wasn't as inhibited as I was. She would say "Bake sale for Obama today!" and I would chip in "Tasty tasty cookies" "yummy snacks". This seemed to make people laugh and our system worked. We really only had a few cranky people that snapped about Obama having enough money already and a few republicans with a great sense of humor about it all. There was a great response and all together people were really into it. I got my friend Ercilia to join me last notice in cookie baking and she even stood with me for a bit of the people wrangling too. Good Fun. Our bake sale made $1202.00 off of $2-3 treats. Not bad for a days work!
